First Star for Blyth Native in NHL Debut Sunday, February 7, 2010 12:51 am
It was a pinch me I must be dreaming moment for Justin Peters of Blyth. In his NHL debut Saturday night with the Carolina Hurricanes they not only beat the New York Islanders 3-1 but he was named first star. With his parents Jeff and Janice and younger brother Alex in the stands Peters stopped two breakaways and made several other outstanding saves. Peters had dressed as the backup for the Hurricanes a handful of times but had never seen any regular season action. Speaking to reporters after the game the 23 year old admitted it was pretty emotional. Peters said he had worked very hard for this chance and it couldn't have gone any better.
